Name The Blanket Essay Contest

The Rhode Island Sheep Cooperative's Rhody Warm Blanket Committee is running an essay contest to name the upcoming 2012 blanket. The essay can be written by any youth who is 18 years or younger. The contestant may choose to write about any "Lost Village" from around the state that has not been previously written about. The essay must include a history of the village, incorporating what the village was known for and how it became a "Lost Village." According to the Co-op, a "Lost Village" is considered "to be a village that was abandoned, destroyed or is not known to most people today." Rhody Warm blankets have already been named after the "Lost Villages" of South Scituate, Kent, Rockland, Ashland and Richmond. These are from the Scituate Reservoir Area, and the Co-op is now looking for other "Lost Villages" around the state.

All essays entered in the contest will be judged by a committee appointed by the Rhody Warm Blanket Committee. The winner of the essay contest  will receive notification by phone, will be announced on the website, will be recognized in the 2012 blanket brochure which will include the Lost Village, AND will win a brand new Kindle Fire.

Essays must be postmarked by June 30, 2012  to  be considered.
